Congratulations!

Monica was recently chosen to be on the Lone Peak High School Drill team! She has been taking dance classes for many years and this has been a long time goal of hers. We are so excited that her hard work and dedication has paid off! We can't wait to see her perform!

Nicole was chosen to compete in the "Honors Piano Recital" for excelling in piano. She practiced and memorized her piece called, "Mandarin Orange" and will receive $40 for earning a spot in the Honors competition.

We definitely have excellent Young Women... please let your leaders know of any other accomplishments so we can recognize you too!

April Newsletter

Some of our YW were able to attend the YW general meeting at the conference center last month. It was a wonderful meeting with lots of encouragement and guidance for the YW to follow. Sister Dibb’s talk was about being of good courage, Sister Cook reminded us to never, never, never give up, and Sister Dalton helped the YW to remember who they are. President Uchtdorf’s talk was the one most of the YW talked about afterwards; he called his talk “Happily Ever After” and gave some ideas and testimony on how each of them can have their own happily ever after. It was a great experience to be able to be in the Prophet’s presence and hear from our YW leaders!

We are all excited for Trek and should be preparing for it from June 23-25. The YW have been encouraged to start walking the hills in the neighborhood to prepare physically for it. They also will need some pioneer clothing to wear. These can be made, borrowed or purchased at DI. They will need a bonnet, and 2 skirts/blouses or 2 dresses. It will be a memorable experience and we hope all will be able to attend.

We are also preparing for ward girls camp to be help July 8-10. We are having a girls camp certification activity on the last Wed. of each month to help the girls get their certification done. It is important that they attend on these nights so we can get them all caught up to their current year of certification. Sister Julie Bettinson is serving as our new YW camp director and we are so excited to have her with us!

March Newsletter

This month we held New Beginnings with the theme “Our Savior’s Love” chosen by the girls. The purpose of the evening was to introduce the Young Women program to those joining us from Primary in 2010. We are excited to have already welcomed in 2 new Beehives this year – Morgan Smith and Abigail Casey.

The lessons this past month have been focusing on the Young Women value of Divine Nature. We have learned how a Young Woman can aid in creating a happier home environment through successful communication, sharing work, and increasing love and harmony in the home.

This coming month our lessons will be centered on the role of the Priesthood in our homes and Church. We encourage further discussion of the Gospel principles the Young Women are learning about on Sundays in their homes. We commend the girls on their continued efforts to work towards completion of the Personal Progress Program. We also appreciate the attendance of the Young Women at mutual and the sacrifices made by parents to ensure the girls are able to attend.

We hope this will be a happy fun filled month for everyone as we continue on our individual and collective journey of being more like our Savior.
