Welcome... again!
We keep getting new YW in our ward, and we love it! Welcome to Gentri and Kaylei! We're glad you're here!
May Newsletter
April has been a funfilled month. It started out with the opportunity to listen to General Conference and be inspired by our Prophet and Apostles and other great leaders. The girls have been learning about the Temple in Sunday Lessons and helping them to understand the importance of preparing now and always being worthy to hold a Temple recommend even at their age, so they can attend the Temple at any time to do Baptismal work. The importance of keeping a journal was discussed in our last Sunday lesson and how it blesses not only the lives of our young women but also the lives of their posterity.
The girls have begun to prepare for both girls camp and the Pioneer Trek. They have been learning and practicing First Aid in order pass off their camp certifications. The stake had a practice hike and took everyone to the top of Traverse Peak. It was a challenging hike and the youth did great and some of the leaders learned where they had plenty of work to do to prepare for the hike. We will continue to prepare for girls camp in May. Girls camp is being held from July 7-10. Our destination is being approved at this time and we will let everyone know in the near future where we will be going. Our camp director, Julie Bettinson is dedicated and working hard to ensure we have a great and successful camp. All those going on the Trek need to continue to prepare themselves by going on walks and getting in condition. They need to be getting their lists of supplies together and getting their pioneer clothes. If anyone has questions about what they will be needing, please contact the YW/YM presidency to get that information. The Trek will be a once in a lifetime experience for the youth and one they will never forget. They call it the "second rescue" because it can literally "rescue" our spirits and renew our faith.
Our Young Women's organization is growing and offering the girls opportunities to serve. Hayley McConkie was recently set apart as the new Beehive Class President. We are thankful she has accepted this responsibility and are sure she will grow in her calling and bless the lives of the young women in her stewardship.
We have some accomplished young women we would like to recognize. Monica Nicholes was recently chosen to be on the drill team at Lone Peak High School. Nicole Smith has been chosen to participate in the Honors Piano Recital for excelling in piano. We would like to congratulate them on their accomplishment. These are just some of the examples of what our Young Women accomplish each day, we are sure we do not hear about most of what they do. Our young women are doing great things to help build the Kingdom of God and are great examples to those around them. They love the Lord and teach us many things each time we are with them. As young women leaders we are blessed to serve them.
